Behold- A New Turkey

Turkey has often been described as the sick man of Europe. It often sat as the link that connected Europe with Africa. Of course, it also led to many embarrassing taunts and snide remarks considering the fact that Europe was a lot more developed as compared to Africa. It would not be wrong to say that this forced Turkey to adopt a defensive approach. This approach was a part and parcel of each and every decision of Turkey on the international stage.

Should one presume that Turkish coffee works in the same manner? Is this form of coffee completely different as compared to standard coffee? To go to Turkey without having this coffee is a sacrilege, right?

The Charm of Turkey

Turkey, a place that has it cultures and traditions firmly rooted in the past, still seems modern to the curious visitor. It is one country where traditions have survived the wave of modern changes. This is especially evident in the form of historical structures that stand next to modern high-storey buildings. Istanbul, the former capital of Turkey, is one such destination that you can visit to witness history living in with the present, and not just living but also succeeding More

Business as usual

A lot of people have asked me if it’s still safe to visit Turkey when there is so much upheaval and political trouble in countries that are not very far away. The answer is simple; yes! The political situation in Turkey is much more stable than in Tunisia, Egypt or Libya – more like the northern European countries than the Middle East – and visitors have nothing to fear. Any protests that do take place, and of course we have More

Villa holiday

As a native of the islands it is not as though I am not used to the laid back atmosphere of the locals when it comes to being on vacation, in fact, others will probably confirm that spending your annual vacation there is as relaxing as it can possibly be. After being introduced through a friend to Villas in Tobago, we decided that our upcoming vacation should be spent there. We inquired online about the prices, “which were excellent” and after studying all the amenities that came in the package, including access to a golf course nearby, it was time to make the booking.

Because we had no children, we chose an “off season” time, which allowed us to take advantage of the lower rates. The Villas were pretty close to the airport and because the island was small anyway, it was fairly close to everything else. What really made it awesome, however, was the view that came with it. Once we checked in to the Villas we realized that it was unlikely that we would experience anything this close to paradise in our lifetime again. Standard hotel amenities came with the package, along with beach-front access, two pools, jacuzzi and tennis courts.

After settling in and making a mental note that we would be back next year, we wondered why anyone would choose a vacation other than these beautiful Villas, especially when you considered where they are. Here we were, we had a choice of so many activities, yet we chose to sit in awe of our surroundings. By the time the week came to a close and we had to say goodbye to our Villas we had spent hours on the beach, got in at least two rounds of golf, got a serious tan and had more rum runners than we cared to remember, yes we we’ll be back, and soon.
